The ABS Trading group, located within the Structured Finance group, which is part of the overall Securitized Products group, works with “asset-backed securities”, which are bonds backed by financial assets in the form of loan receivables. Typically these assets consist of receivables generated from credit card loans, auto loans, student loans and home equity loans, among others. The originators of these loans package them into marketable securities and sell these securities to institutional investors through a process known as securitization.
The ABS Trading group has expanded into trading in the Credit Derivatives market. Credit Derivatives are financial contracts that allow market participants to assume either a positive or negative exposure to an entity’s credit to facilitate hedging and speculation. We have exposure to this market through single name credit default swap (CDS) instruments and through the ABX CDS index. The ABX Index is used to take on synthetic risk across a spectrum of home equity securities.

Department Responsibilities:
The ABS Trading Product Control group is responsible for an analysis of revenues generated by the business. The Product Control department acts in two capacities – one as a support unit to the business and two as a control function around the trading activities.
In our support capacity, we act as a business partner to provide trading management with the required level of information to assist them in their business decision making process.
In our control capacity, we are required to ensure that profits and losses generated are validated and recognized in a timely manner according to existing firm policies.

Role Responsibilities:
This specific role will involve providing support and financial control for the trading of ABS Single Seller and ABS Index Credit Default Swaps(CDS). This role will also provide support for inter-company affiliate accounting between the Mortgage Trading and the Mortgage Capital Divisions (MCD).
